Founded in Oulu, Northern Finland, Whatever Pictures is an independent production company developing and producing scripted drama, feature films, and high-end television with strong international appeal.

The company was established by producer, screenwriter and actor Antti Kaarlela together with long-time creative collaborators Jukka Vidgren, Antti Kairakari and Aleksi Puranen. From the beginning, Whatever Pictures has built its slate around original intellectual properties, aiming to bridge Nordic storytelling with global audiences.

Its work spans genres from crime drama to comedy and youth entertainment, with partners including YLE, Elisa Viihde, RAI, MTV3, Channel 4 UK (Walter Presents), Minerva Pictures, and others. Whatever Pictures’ productions and co-productions are distributed internationally by respected sales companies such as Skoop Media and Minerva Pictures.

From its base in Oulu, the company embodies its motto: “Independent by nature, fearless in vision.”
